Goooood morning Tuesday! How are you all doing? I’m so bummed I didn’t get to blog yesterday. I had such a busy weekend that I was totally exhausted on Sunday night. Plus, I chose to sleep in as LATE AS POSSIBLE yesterday morning: 7:1o and I leave for work at 7:30. Whoa! It was glorious, glorious sleep though. Yay!
My weekend involved a lot of “3′s” starting with dinner. Friday night was “three’s company” because my parents invited me over for a homemade dinner. I’m never one to turn down food, especially food made with love by my parents. My mom made a delicious salad and steamed some fresh green beans. My dad sauteed chicken in ginger sauce and made brown rice. The whole meal was fresh and healthy and a great way to end the work week.
Look at the fancy set-up My mom set put together. I didn’t just sit around and do nothing though- I lit all those candles!
We all wished we had some beer, but there was a thunderstorm that evening and none of us wanted to get soaked. Nice healthy water instead! Dessert included Boston Cream Pie and Friendly’s ice cream, but I forgot to take a pic. Probably because I was too busy shoving it in my face! Caaaaake….ice creeeeeam!
Do your parents ever make you dinner?
Saturday I did the Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred DVD. I really, really worked hard on it and my arms were really sore the next day. I love that it sucks to be so sore, but it’s so awesome at the same time.
Sunday was a really big day for me. I ran (and walked) 3 miles!!! Seriously! I’m getting better at this whole running thing. I went to the local high school track and lucked out with the most beautiful weather.
There was not a single cloud in the sky, but luckily it wasn’t very humid at all. I really wished I had worn sunscreen though because I could feel the sun beating down on my face. Tanning feels so good, but I really don’t want to be wrinkly before my time.
The only bad thing about the run was that my phone died and I didn’t get to track my exact splits. I ran over to my car’s clock though and I’m pretty sure I finished all three miles in about 32-35 minutes. At best, a 10.5 minute mile; at worst, an 11.5 minute mile. I’m happy with either.
The Miles Over the Moon 4 miler is only 17 days away. Eek! I’m not going to lie- I’m freaking out a little bit. My goals for the race are to run at least the whole first mile with no stops (which I’ve done twice now) and to finish in 50 minutes or less. 50 minutes would be a 12.5 minutes per mile pace, so I’m on track to beat that.
My training goals for the week are two more 3 mile runs. I want to get used to running longer lengths at a time. Next week I need to tackle a 4 miler. Yikes!
That’s all I’ve got for today! Hope your Tuesdays are grrrrrreat! (Think Tony the Tiger great!)
Do you make training goals for yourself? I find setting little goals helps keep me on track.
When you run, do you run in your neighborhood or at a track? I’m trying to switch it up. I like that the track is more cushioned and helps me pace myself a bit.
